Hello Mantis

Today, after dropping my boys off at school, I was greeted by a Praying Mantis on my porch.  I had never seen one in real life unless it was in captivity somewhere.  After much thought, I decided to look up the symbolism of this creature and let me tell you.....it is fitting for the way things have been in my life.

The mantis comes to us when we need peace, quiet and calm in our lives. Usually the mantis makes an appearance when we've flooded our lives with so much business, activity, or chaos that we can no longer hear the still small voice within us because of the external din we've created.

After observing this creature for any length of time you can see why the symbolism of the praying mantis deals with stillness and patience. The mantis takes her time, and lives her life at her own silent pace.

These traits have lead the mantis to be a symbol of meditation and contemplation. In fact, in China, the mantis has long been honored for her mindful movements.

The mantis never makes a move unless she is 100% positive it is the right thing for her to do. This is a message to us to contemplate and be sure our minds and souls all agree together about the choices we are making in our lives.

Overwhelmingly in most cultures the mantis is a symbol of stillness. As such, she is an ambassador from the animal kingdom giving testimony to the benefits of meditation, and calming our minds.

An appearance from the mantis is a message to be still, go within, meditate, get quite and reach a place of calm. It may also a sign for you to be more mindful of the choices you are making and confirm that these choices are congruent.

Awakening

By the Goddess, I have been on such a tumultuous personal journey the past few months!  I really feel at this moment that I am finally going towards reaching a phenominal life change and it is both terrifying and liberating at the same time.  It is so scary to leave the comfort zone of the life you have created with the society views you have been taught from infancy and to venture into a new journey, doing and having the kind of life you always felt you were destined to have. 
I feel my husband is also on a journey, similiar to mine in the way of searching for happiness but I am not sure if his journey is as deep as mine on a spiritual level.  Regardless, there is change on the horizon in our household.  The future seems more uncertain now than it ever has but it is also full of more and more possibilites that I am anxious to explore.  I look forward to sharing this journey of mine with you, in hopes that perhaps it will enlighten and inspire you on your own personal journey.

She did it again!

Silver Ravenwolf has again started a month of cleansing rituals.  I was not a part of the month cleansing last year but from what I have heard and read, it was wonderful.  Today in my inbox I received a morning ritual which I just fell in love with!  I am always looking for simple ways to bring and keep my spirituality in my life, especially as I live amongst those that do not share my path.  This fit that bill!  So what better way then to share it with all of you!

The Witch's Sabbat - Samhain

Mabon

Blessed Mabon, my friends! 
I don't know about you but I have pumpkin on the brain!  Today will be a day of cleaning and baking in this household.  Living in a townhome sure keeps you spending most days inside due to lack of yard and privacy.  The fact that I am in hot and humid central Florida doesn't help in that area either. 
Atleast this morning was beautiful. It was a little cooler with not as harsh humidity as it has been these last few days.  It made my task of walking our dogs a little nicer and more than once I found myself stopping and whispering thanks and blessings as the wind softly played with my hair and the sun lovingly shone on my face.  It's moments like this when you can truly feel the goddess around you and within; when the world seems to slow down a little and you find yourself truly grateful for your life, the hardships that strengthened you and the good times that made your soul smile and grow.
So my wish to you this Mabon is that you have a moment like that today.  A beautiful moment where everything feels ok, no matter what your circumstance, and that you feel thankful for all that you are and all that you have.  Brightest blessings!
